10 days of heart issues – question everything

Question everything

What I am going to say in this post will probably not be well received. But I firmly believe it, so here goes. 🙂

Many of us were raised to trust the status quo, to believe what we are taught, to not get too curious. But one day YHVH showed me that truth will stand. It can be tested, questioned, poked, prodded, and still come out truth. My scrutinizing and analyzing does not change it. In fact, truth should be tested. If it stands, then it can be confidently trusted. But if it does not stand, then it should be quickly discarded.

Let me give you an example.

Six years ago, my sister started keeping Sabbath. I thought she was crazy. I got quite adamant about it, and my husband was quite amused by my rage lol. So he told me to prove my sister wrong. I went to the computer and began using our Scripture software program, confident that a few minutes work would yield the proof that the Sabbath had been done away with. But several minutes went by, and I couldn’t find anything. I kept looking and kept coming up empty. It simply wasn’t there. There was no evidence that Yahshua or anyone else had ever changed the Sabbath. I came out rather humbled, but changed forever. The “truth” of Sunday did not hold up to scrutiny and had to be thrown out.

Sometimes, as we examine “truth”, it does hold up and we can count on it as a firm foundation. Recently, I was challenged on a post. I researched and studied, right down to the Hebrew words. I spent much time in prayer and consideration, trying to determine where the truth was. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that I had spoken the truth in the first place, but now I knew that I was standing on a solid foundation. Yes, I taught the right thing, but it had not been tested yet. I am so thankful for the one that challenged me. Truth can stand our testing, but if we find we hold a false belief, we should be humble enough to cast it aside.

Are there any beliefs that you hold, but haven’t tested yet? Don’t be afraid to run those beliefs through the wringer. If they hold up, then you stand on rock. But if they don’t hold up, get rid of them as quick as you can, and don’t be afraid to say, “I was wrong.”

I hope it goes without saying, but make sure you use Scripture as your main testing equipment. 🙂
