Good afternoon everyone! I hope you have been having a good week thus far.
What did I…
Offer thanks for?
Good healthy food, children that are growing in responsibility and self motivation, a husband that I adore. 🙂
I not only have a new kitchen, but I have a completely functioning, not leaking sink! I have been feeling so productive in my kitchen lately. Dishes are getting washed, counters are cleared, fun baking is getting done. YAY!
A bit of back pain from sleeping wrong can cause a lot of struggle. Man, it’s discouraging to realize how quickly momma can turn cranky! I need to work on this.
Teach my children?
The girls want to have their own pet, we’re thinking hamsters. So they have been working very diligently on their schoolwork to show that they are responsible. I set some goals for them, but they have been teaching me to be realistic in my expectations. Sometimes I expect too much and discourage rather than motivate. I’m so thankful that they feel confident enough to come to me with their concerns, and say, “Momma, I think what you are asking is too hard!”
Study and learn?
I have been very grateful for the ability to spend more time studying Scripture lately. I love my new household notebook (halfsize) and have a section for Bible notes. So I have been cuddling up in bed in the evening and studying and taking notes in my notebook. I am currently working through Philippians and the Torah portions.
Noah loves to give us hugs, however, his method is hilarious. He runs at us and tackles us around the knees. I love this age!
I’m glad I serve an Elohim that cares about the little things. I have been working on plans to get “My First Torah” finished and in print. However, I was really struggling with the print options I was looking at, and as a result, had just about zero motivation to even work on it. So I prayed about it, and while I was lying in bed, He began putting ideas in my head. After discussing it with the kids and Doug, the ideas are finally coming together, and I was able to start writing again! Have you ever had answered prayers like that?
What is this week’s Torah portion and what did I learn from it?
Terumah Exodus 25:1-27:19
We are entering into the Torah portions with very detailed descriptions of the Tabernacle and all the items in it. Sometimes it is tempting to let our eyes glaze over. But all this information is there for a reason. We need to learn that YHVH cares about details. He cares about the details of the Tabernacle. He cares about the details in His creation, like sparrows. He cares about the details in my life. He cares about the details of our obedience to Him. The details is probably the reason that rabbis say 70 years is not enough to become a master of the Torah. There is always another detail that we need to learn. We may need to make a connection between two passages. We may need to notice a detail where we were not obeying as well as we could. We may need to praise YHVH for a detail about His character. Praise YHVH for the details! I look forward to being shown many more of them. 🙂
