We are almost to the beginning of a new month, which means more Scripture verses! I received a suggestion to work through a smaller book of the Bible over a month, and I think this is a lovely idea! What better way to make sure we are keeping everything in context? This month, we will be journeying through the book of Colossians. I highly recommend that you take a few minutes to read about the city of Colosse to better understand the backdrop of this book. Look for the following.

• religious practices
• gods they worshipped
• location on the map, trade routes, country, etc.
• daily life

Also take a look at some of the players mentioned in the book, like:

• Paul
• Timothy
• Epaphras
• believers in Laodicea
• Tychicus
• Onesimus
• Aristarchus
• Mark
• Luke
• Demas
• Nympha
• Archippus

Wow, there are a lot of names in Colossians! I didn’t realize until I started typing them out. There are plenty of resources available, such as Bible dictionaries and commentaries.
