Description
We talk a lot about faith, but often don’t have a real grasp of what it actually means. I want to have more faith, but I can’t just decide to have more faith. What does the Bible say?
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
While faith can feel elusive, I do know that the Bible teaches us that in order to have more faith, we must have more of the Word of God.
Are you struggling with this idea of faith? Are you feeling like you don’t have enough faith, or YHVH isn’t really hearing you? I have had some of these struggles myself. I want to have that trust in my Heavenly Father like a little child. So I did a lot of study to learn more about how to have more faith. Here’s what I found.
- We need to have good comprehension of who our God is if we are going to have faith in Him.
- We need to be in the Word to increase our faith.
- We need to be paying attention to YHVH at work in the world around us.
- We need to be intentional about recording His answers and His moving in our lives.
I took these ideas and created a prayer journal that functions as a tool to specifically increase our faith. It’s not just a way to record prayer requests and answers. Let’s take a look inside.
First, we need to acknowledge what He has already given us. We are told so many times in Scripture to be thankful. We need to see the abundance rather than the lack in our lives. He provides so much, and too often, we forget to recognize that and thank Him for what He has already done.
Second, we need to be honest with ourselves and YHVH about our struggles. He already knows about them, but He also tells us to cast our cares upon Him. He truly wants to hear from us, even when we feel like our lives are spinning out of control.
Next, we are told to be in constant prayer. We could sit and worry about our problems, and get nowhere fast. Or, we could take those same problems to our Heavenly father, who wants to help us, but really likes it when we come to Him and ask.
Once we have taken our struggles to Him, we need to be intentionally observant. Do we recognize when He answers our prayers? Do we celebrate those answers by recording them? There are many times in Scripture when we were commanded to create a physical memorial to remember what YHVH has done. Writing the answers to our prayers is a solid start.
Lastly, to know that our God is ever faithful, we need to learn more about Him and how He works. We need to record how He is working in our lives and showing Himself faithful. And if we are struggling to see His hand, we can look in the Bible and write down what He did for our ancestors. He is still the same God and never changes.
As we fill our minds and hearts with YHVH’s words and look for His faithfulness in the Bible and in our own lives, our faith will increase as a result.
I designed this journal to walk you through a faith-building journey. There are daily prayer and faith building pages, as well as weekly copywork pages featuring passages on faith. If you use the pages every day, the journal will last you 12 weeks. (undated)
