November always catches me off guard. One week I’m still enjoying a little evening sun, and the next I’m turning on the lamps before supper. The days are shorter, the mornings are darker, and everything in the house seems to lean toward candles, quilts, and a warm kitchen.
This month felt like the right time to spend thirty days with one of Scripture’s most beautiful themes: light. We begin at creation, when Yah first spoke light into the darkness, and walk through the pillar of fire, the psalms that call Him our light, and the Word that serves as a lamp to our feet. From there we follow the light into the prophets, the Gospels, and finally Isaiah 60, where the day comes when we no longer need the sun at all because He Himself is our everlasting light.
Each day has just three to six verses, so it’s easy to read over morning coffee, copy into a journal, or read aloud while the kids finish breakfast. As the days grow darker, may you find yourself more aware of the One who is always shining.
